Legal Stuff

My Contract and consent form is provided below, followed by useful information:

Counselling contract and Consent form

This consent form is the basis of the therapeutic relationship we will have as client and therapist. Please sign below to confirm you are happy with the contract. Or, please let Laura Coulter know if you have any questions.
1. Laura Coulter will listen non-judgmentally whilst providing a safe environment for you to speak and be heard.
2. Laura Coulter is bound by, and works in line with, the Code of Ethics issued by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, which can be found at www.ncps.com.
3. Counselling sessions are 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed.
4. I understand that counselling is a collaborative process and the degree of progress I make is dependent on my participation and engagement.
4. Confidentiality will be maintained in all but the most exceptional circumstances. I agree that these can include: legal action, child abuse and if I am an imminent danger to myself or others.
5. I understand that any information gathered during the sessions will be stored in line with GDPR regulations.
6. Counselling sessions cost £40 for 60 minutes.
7. If I am late for a session, I understand that the session will finish at the appointed time.
8. Cancellation: A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for re-scheduling or cancelling an appointment. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time will be charged at £40.
9. If two sessions are missed without 24 hours notice, therapy will be terminated.
10. There should be no requirement for contact between sessions unless to cancel or reschedule an appointment. However, I agree that any contact is by text, phone call or email. Laura Coulter will not telephone without prior agreement.
11. There shall be no audio or video recording of therapy sessions.
12. I understand that the number of sessions required will be discussed and review periods agreed.
13. I am free to terminate any or all sessions at any time. Laura Coulter is also free to terminate any or all sessions at any time.

Useful information

1. Please do not arrive early for your appointment as there is no waiting area. If you do arrive early or have someone dropping you off and waiting on you, there is a coffee shop on the Main Street, which serves reasonably priced and good quality food and drinks.

2. There is no parking immediately outside, however there is a free car park across the road.

3. There are regular bus and train services to Kilmaurs. I am situated one minute walk from the bus stop and a five minute walk from the train station.

4. There are three steps up to the Shepherds Hut. If you have any difficulty ascending and descending steps, please let me know.

5. Appointments are available: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8am until 8pm, Thursday and Friday 8am until 6pm, and Saturday 8am until 12pm.

6. The kettle is always on.
